Parution du troisième rapport sur la biospie des ganglions sentinelles axillaires
29 May 2012

Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer and the second most common cause of death by cancer in Canadian women. With the continuing development of adjuvant and neoadjuvant treatments, surgeries are becoming more effective at conserving the breast and contributing to higher patient survival. Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) has been proposed as an alternative to axillary lymph node dissection (ALND).

This systematic review examines the safety and clinical efficacy of SLNB. SLNB is a less invasive surgical procedure than ALND, which is traditionally used to treat invasive breast cancer.
